DEMENTIA FRIENDLY DANCE
We offer dementia friendly dance sessions to residential care homes and day care centres for the elderly. The sessions combine playful movement activities with social dance, offering a range of opportunities for participants to take part. We use music from a variety of cultures and social eras, and we are always open to requests. A range of props will be used to encourage movement.
Sessions encourage social interaction. We aim to bring a team of dance buddies who will talk to residents, dance with them while they are seated or standing, and we will also sing along to many of the songs.
Depending on funding we are sometimes able to offer a free session to care homes, and then further sessions will carry a fee.
Please complete the form to enquire about our sessions. Many thanks to Sussex Community Foundation, RTR and Magic Little Grants for supporting and subsidising our work.
Thanks to grants from The King Charles 111 Charitable Fund [KCCF], and the Ernest Kleinworth Trust we are running Dementia-friendly inclusive social tea dances every other month at the Arthur Easton Centre, St Michael's Hospice on Thursdays from 2-4pm. Tickets for these events cost £5 per participant but carers come for free.
