DEMENTIA FRIENDLY DANCE
We offer dementia friendly dance sessions to care homes and day care centres for the elderly. The sessions combine therapeutic movement activities with social dance, offering a range of opportunities for participants to take part. We use music from a variety of cultures and social eras, and we are always open to requests.
Sessions can be offered which focus on social interaction. We will bring a team of dance buddies who will talk to residents, dance with them while they are seated or standing, and we will also sing along to many of the songs.
Therapeutic sessions also offer a social aspect, but they may not involve dance buddies. A range of props will be used to encourage movement.
Many thanks to Sussex Community Foundation and Magic Little Grants for enabling us to offer ten monthly sessions for free to three care homes, and weekly sessions to a day care centre.
Please if you would like to discuss bespoke sessions for your setting. These may carry a fee, depending on funding available.
